Soccer teammates turn passion into multi-million dollar business

Clinton Maynard

Bill Woods speaks with Dean Snoxell, Co-founder of the Stubby Club, whose love of sport and matching merchandise has proved lucrative for three young men from Victoria running a booming sport merchandise start-up.

The Stubby Club, started by three mates Dean, Dylan and Jon, who grew up playing soccer together, has seen 1600% revenue growth over the last three years to $2.3m, landed major sporting deals including the A-League, NRL, AFL, NFL and Cricket Australia and is about to launch an equity crowdfunding campaign.

“We’re levelling-up sports merchandise for fans. The mission has always been to build a one-stop-shop with fully licensed, fun and creative merchandise that sets us apart from the competition,” says Dean.

“Stubby holder dispensers are still our top selling product, followed by golf pong and NRL/custom beer pong tables, these have sold in pre-orders multiple times due to demand,” he said.

“We credit our own passion for sport to helping us grow the business because if you’re passionate about what you’re selling it makes everything a lot easier.”
