Renault Megane Wagon

David Berthon

Talking further on the upgraded Renault Megane range now including sedan, hatch and wagon. I’ve just driven the Megane GT wagon priced at $39,990 drive-away – drive-away pricing designed to stimulate sales and is working with sales up 16 percent. The GT is the sports performer of the Megane wagon range featuring a 1.6-litre Turbo coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic – its gutsy with 151kW of power and 280 Nm of torque – punch the throttle hard and you can induce torque steer from the front wheels despite the fact the GT gets Renault’s 4 Control all-wheel steering. This is a real driver’s car on the open road –fun, safe and highly appointed with an advanced driver assistance system with a number of driver safety functions, a sports-tuned suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels. More of an annoyance is the mounting the manual shift paddles on the column rather than the steering wheel which means your fingers disappointing lose touch with the paddles as you turn through corners. I’m David Berthon
