Queenslanders ignoring lifejackets

The State has reported its WORST YEAR EVER for marine accidents, and it seems Queenslanders aren’t wearing lifejackets.

The figures show that last year EIGHTEEN people died in marine accidents.  Of the FOURTEEN who drowned or went missing – only one was wearing a life jacket.

Peter Hackett is an advocate for life jackets having worked in marine rescue and he tells Mark, of the 113 people who have drowned during marine incidents in Queensland over the last 20 years – only FIVE were wearing life jackets.
