Polestar 2 long range dual motor electric Fastback – captivating and different
Talking about the fully electric Polestar 2 five-door fastback – Polestar was formed by Volvo as a premium electric car maker in 2017, first deliveries here began in March, only available online in three models with long and standard range batteries.
Designed in Sweden but built in China Polestar has been creating significant awareness in shopping centres and I was surprised at the overwhelming interest shown on Sunday at Westfield Bondi Junction. The Polestar styling captivating and different – a real eyecatcher. I’ve just driven the range topping Polestar 2 long range dual motor all-wheel drive at $73,400.
The test car however fitted with three option packs adding $19,000 and a host of features that I don’t have time to mention, some of which like adaptive cruise control, 360-degree camera and some active safety elements should be standard fare.
The two electric motors produce output of 300kW and 660Nm of torque powered by a 78kWh battery with a claimed range of 480km. – the latter very dependent on driving style. Charging 24 hours on a standard wall outlet, eight hours on a three phase AC outlet.
There’s so much to like with this premium electric Polestar, the interior impressive with fabulous seats and a great infotainment screen. Complimentary five-year/100,000km servicing.
