Peugeot 3008 SUV

David Berthon

Late this week we see the first of a new breed of Peugeot models under a new importer for the French brand. First up is the upgrade mid-sized 3008 SUV – only in front wheel drive and available in four six-speed automatic grades from the Active at $36,990, the Allure at 39,490, the GT-line at $43,490 and the top grade GT at $49,490. The bottom three grades feature a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine, the top grade GT a 2.0-litre turbo diesel. The Peugeot 3008 prices are far above competitive SUV’s like the new Honda CR-V I spoke of last week. For example, the entry 1.5 turbo automatic Honda CR-V with comparable power and torque starts at $30,690, some $6,300 below the entry Peugeot Active. Peugeot in my opinion can no longer command stand-alone pricing and I’ll be interested to drive the new 3008 range this week in the Hunter Valley and compare it with its direct competitors from Japan, Korea, Germany and France. I’m David Berthon
