‘Out of touch’: Queensland Government set to increase vehicle registration fees

Queensland registration fees are about to increase by 3.4 per cent in the new financial year, which is above Brisbane’s current CPI rate of just over 2.5 per cent.

Queensland Shadow Treasurer Shannon Fentiman has criticised the move, telling Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, “I can’t believe not only have they cut the 20% discount for rego, as you’ve said, they’ve actually slugged us with a 3.4% increase, which is more than inflation.”

“They’ve gone with the 3.4 per cent hike as well as as you’ve said getting rid of that 20 per cent discount and so for the average Queenslander it’s like an $88 increase compared to their last bill or you know for the average Queensland family that’s $176.”
