NSWRL CEO Dave Trodden outlines important revamp for bush footy

Continuous Call Team

After a successful grand final day at Bankwest Stadium, NSWRL CEO Dave Trodden joined us to outline a bold new blueprint to revitalise country football.

‘One State’ is a new strategic plan to improve pathways for country rugby league players in the hope of unearthing a new crop of NRL stars.

Large bush clubs will be invited to compete from next season in a new statewide Ron Massey Cup, featuring teams from all across NSW.

As the Daily Telegraph reports, “the NSWRL will also divide the state into six news zones – each of which will boast not only its own tiered competitions, but links to NRL franchises. Other proposals include the live-streaming of bush games, rebranded development officers, and access for regional clubs to marketing and finance experts.”
