David Berthon

After its strongest sales year on record in Australia Nissan has refreshed its Y62 model Patrol wagon for 2022.

The trusty Patrol has sold more than two million units worldwide over the models 70-year history. The new changes are relatively minor with a mildy refreshed grille, plus a new frontal emblem and fender vents. These changes in addition to last years update which saw suspension and safety upgrades and a revised colour palette.

Mechanically unaltered retaining its petrol 5.6-litre quad cam V8 linked to a seven-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and adaptive shift control. Whilst it sells in much smaller numbers to Toyota’s diesel LandCruiser wagon its silky performance and strong towing ability have made it a firm favourite with some buyers. Its braked towing capacity of 3,500kilos remaining unchanged.

Prices are up by $1,000 – the Ti from $82,160, the Ti-L from $95,115.
