Nissan’s good looking small Qashqui SUV gets some worthwhile updates.

Driving Nissan’s Qashqui today, the flagship Ti listed at $38,490, but currently on offer for $40,290 drive-away Upgraded in February with some advanced technology this small front-wheel-drive is one of our better-looking small SUV’s and very nicely built with Japanese quality. It has loads of appeal for a small family with a great cabin. Despite its price pushing into medium SUV territory the Qashqui Ti outdoes a number of competitors in equipment terms – Nappa leather seats, digital speedo, adaptive cruise control, a fixed panoramic sunroof with powered shade, powered front seats and full LED adaptive headlights. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have now been added along with upgraded autonomous emergency braking featuring pedestrian detection.

With 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder power linked to a continuously variable automatic performance is above average but not startling but expect very good economy on more affordable 91 RON petrol. If the Ti’s price is out or reach I recommend the Qashqai ST+ at $33,290 drive-away which still features many of the technical bells and whistles – that price incidentally includes a 2.9 per cent interest rate with a guaranteed buy back amount at the end of a four-year term.  Free service for three years is also welcome with this finance offer. Disappointments – the lack of a powered rear door and the fitment of a space saver spare wheel.
