Nissan re-affirms its sales position with improved supply

David Berthon

After a dismal sales performance last year Nissan has confirmed that recent
increased vehicle supply could well see it once again become a top 10 vehicle
brand in Australia again. The Japanese brand was the ninth best-selling brand in
September but year to date sits 12 th on the sales ladder with 28,694 sales, up 36
percent on the same time last year. Nissan’s sales result last year was the worst
since the mid 1990’s but in September this year was the fastest growing brand in
the market with its popular X-Trail 4WD representing 32 percent of sales. In
September Nissan also sold 1208 Patrol 4WD’s, its best month since June 2004
but while sales have shown a marked uplift the company concedes that some
models are still in a wait situation with supply challenges. The Navara ute in
particular one that remains supply-challenged.
