Next steps taken in WTO barley dispute

A decision to escalate a barley trade dispute with China to the World Trade Organisation could take years to run its course.

Beijing slapped tariffs on our exports over allegations producers had been dumping the product in the Chinese market at a discounted rate.

The W-T-O is being asked to establish a dispute panel, after negotiations between officials from both countries broke down.

Rural reporter Sophie Clarke caught up with GrainGrowers Chairman Brett Hosking to hear about the complex process.
