Farmers are demanding the environment minister explain why water buybacks have been increased to 450 thousand megalitres.

Tanya Plibersek plans to increase water buybacks, but New South Wales Farmers say that will have devastating impacts for food production.

Farmers are warning it could see food costs go up at the supermarket checkouts.

Rural reporter Emily Minney spoke to Water Taskforce Chair Richard Bootle about the increase to the buybacks and farmers concerns.
