New mid-range Peugeot 2008 GT adds value

More on Peugeot’s recently launched mid-range 2008 SUV the GT fitting between the entry Allure and top spec GT Sport. Priced at $38,990 it’s a well thought out value addition to the range, looking very similar to the GT Sport but retaining the Allure’s lower capacity 96kW 1.2-litre turbo three-cylinder engine. Having said that you won’t be disappointed with performance.
I’ve enthused quite often about three cylinder engines, a torquey and a strong performer although it does get a little raucous under load and does need a diet of 95 RON petrol and with mainly city driving I managed economy of 7.1L/100 – This small French SUV really captures eyes with its distinctive style – it’s different and will appeal to many who like European style – more expensive than the likes of the Hyundai Kona, Volkswagen T-Roc, Mazda 3 and Skoda Kamiq but it does offer more individuality.
A small steering wheel with flat top and bottom gives it a sporty feel while a quick steering ratio and tight turning circle makes it extremely nimble about town. The cabin a high point so too the seating, also the 3D iCockpit instrument display, excellent boot space, large 10-inch touch screen, wireless phone charging, good active safety elements and LED headlights. A lack of second row air vents a disappointment. Warranty 5-years /unlimited kilometre.
