New car prices continue to rise – Volkswagen to lift prices on June 1

David Berthon

The interest rate hike was in the news this week joining the recent petrol price rises and general cost of living increases. Prices on the family car are also on the way up. Volkswagen is the latest car company to hike prices, its most popular passenger car and SUV ranges soon to rise by up to $3,600.

Increased production costs, transport logistics plus inflation are behind VW’s third price adjustment in nine months. The latest rises take effect from June 1 so if you’re in the market for a new Volkswagen now is the time to act. The small Golf 110TSI Life automatic hatch will jump by $1,700 to $36,990, $2740 more than in September last year.

The Arteon sedan I raved about a few weeks back will jump by up to $2,500 while the Touareg SUV will lift by as much as $3,600.

I’m David Berthon.
