New car delivery times are really stretched at present
Delivery times are really impacting new car sales at present with some manufacturers more affected than others. Some models from the same manufacturer may also be readily available – the world semi-conductor shortage aplaying havoc with production schedules.
According to online pricing information platform PriceMyCar the average wait time for a new car in Australia is now 126 days. As such some buyers are refusing to wait and look to buying a used model – only trouble is some used cars can cost nearly as much as a new one.
The issue is not going to resolve quickly with the extended delays expected to last up to 12 months. Delays vary between individual models, some Jaguars for example like the XF sedan can be delayed by up to 316 days while its small E-Pace SUV by just 22 days and F-Type sports model by an average of 15 days.
