New Audi Q5 brings great promise

Talking further on Audi’s latest Q5 SUV, a highly popular premium SUV when launched in 2009 but which gained a lot more competition in recent years from the likes of Mercedes excellent GLC, Land Rover’s Discovery Sport, Jaguar’s F-Pace and Porsche’s Macan. Audi Australia hope the new Q5 will reverse a 12 per cent sales slide this year, a reversal of strong growth its enjoyed over the last 12 years. The new Audi Q5 brings great promise – up to 90 kilos lighter and claimed to provides better handling, ride comfort and 12 per cent better fuel efficiency. A more sophisticated Quattro ultra all-wheel- drive system now allows up to 100% of the torque to be sent to either front or rear axles. 2.0-litre TDI diesel and 2.0- litre TFSi petrol engines link to re-developed seven-speed S-Tronic dual clutch transmissions – prices running from $65,900 up to $99,611 for the potent SQ5 turbo which now features 3.0-litre turbo petrol power rather than diesel.
