National vacancy rates hold steady

Phil O'Neil

Luke is joined by Louis Christopher, Managing Director of SQM Research, about their latest rental marketing data released yesterday.

The data for the month of July shows that the national residential property rental vacancy rates are steady at 1.3% but interestingly the total number of rental vacancies Australia-wide dropped marginally by 852 dwellings, bringing the count to 38,864 properties.

This marks the first monthly decline since January.

Sydney, Perth and Hobart recorded slight decreases in rental vacancy rates during the month with Darwin the only capital city to see a monthly increase in its vacancy rate up to 1.0%.

During the same period, the vacancy rates for Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra all remained unchanged.
