MG’s popular small ZS SUV soon to arrive in electric form but comes at a price premium
MG Motor Australia at its new Sydney dealership announced pricing for its first zero emission model, the small ZS EV SUV due to arrive next year. The all-electric MG ZS EV is being offered to 100 early adopters for $46,990 drive-away. By comparison, the current petrol ZS has been a huge success for the MG brand at $26,990 drive-away in high spec form. Frankly, for me. the $20,000 surcharge for electric power is a disappointment given that the company indicated earlier this year that it would carry a price around $30,000 plus on-road costs. Power for the ZS EV comes from an electric motor producing 105 kW of power and 353 Nm of torque – with a 44.5 Kwhour lithium –ion battery the ZS EV has a potential range of 262km on a single charge. Highly equipped and with three driving modes, Eco, Normal and Sport it comes with a 7-year, 160,000 km warranty and a seven-year warranty on the battery.
