MG ZS Essence is loaded with features
I’ve just tested the small MG ZS Essence SUV, the MG brand these days owned by the Chinese and this vehicle is probably the best example of the much improved quality to come from this part of the world – the MG ZS a small five-door 1.0-litre turbo three-cylinder six-speed automatic surprised me in so many areas. At $25,490 drive-away the Essence has a stack of equipment like a rear view camera, emergency brake assist, faux leather trim that looks and feels real, rear parking sensors, a panoramic glass sunroof plus the usual cruise control, six airbags and alloy wheels – the Chinese knew they had to load it with features and the list goes on and on. As a driver the 1.0-litre 82kW three-cylinder impresses, frugal and I managed 7.1L/100 on the city/country cycle. MG dealers are few and far between however there’s a new one on the central coast and this small MG is very much worth the drive. I’m David Berthon
