MG ZS Essence – A great value small SUV

One of the best value SUV’s I’ve driven this year is the small MG ZS Essence – a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol six-speed automatic five-seater sharply priced at $25,490 drive-away –one of the
best Chinese vehicles to so far hit our market in terms of presence, drive-ability, features and value for money. So good looking you’d mistake it for being a Mazda. With a rear view camera, three mode power steering, emergency brake assist, a seven year/unlimited kilometre warranty, faux leather trim and a large panoramic sunroof the MGZS is an impressive newcomer. It also gains rear parking sensors, cruise control, six airbags and nice alloy wheels. A lack of dealers has limited sales however a new dealership at Tuggerah has lifted MG’s presence while dealers are now coming on board. As I’ve said before three cylinder engines offer nice mid-range performance where you do most of your driving and the 1.0-litre turbo in the MG ZS Essence is a gem. I’m David Berthon
