MG consolidates its electric car business with a donation of charging stations

David Berthon

MG Motor Australia has taken a welcome new initiative in ensuring electric vehicle infrastructure is more widely available across Australia.

The  Chinese company will donate up to 3,000 electric vehicle charging stations to 1,000 hotels and resorts over the next three years, the multi-million dollar deal using MG’s own Aurora charge hub will be offered to communities across the country – with venue operators able to submit an expression of interest at mgelectric.com.au – MG Motors Australia CEO Peter Ciao made the point this week – “that MG wants to be a local brand and that’s’ why we need some local solutions – we will also make these chargers available for everyone to use not just MG customers.”

Surely, an excellent PR move given the considerable publicity the Chinese government has attracted in recent months. MG sales in Australia continue to grow at a rapid rate, now the No. 10 automotive brand in volume.
