MG brand on a roll with sales up 282 percent in the first half

It’s no secret the car market is running below last year’s sales figures, sales in June down 9.6 per cent on the same month last year. Dealers report a very tough market with most brands running behind last year’s figures. One brand however, MG, which we grew up with as the British Sports Car manufacturer, is having a very buoyant period with sales up 282 percent. Now owned by the giant Chinese SAIC Motor Group, MG is on a roll with three models, a hatch and two SUV’s – the small MG3 automatic hatch, the compact ZS SUV and the larger GS mid-sized SUV – all backed by a 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty and 7-year roadside assistance. The MG GS comes in three models – the front drive only Core and Excite with 1.5-litre turbo engine, 7-speed automatic and the 2-litre turbo AWD Essence with six-speed automatic. The MG brand is gaining momentum based on good quality and above all else excellent value for money. I’m David Berthon
