Major concerns the mouse plague will return

Mike Jeffreys

Michael is joined by Steve Henry, CSIRO researcher and mouse expert, who has major concerns that the mouse plague will return even worse than before as high mouse activity is already being reported nationally.

Largely due to favourable climatic conditions, parts of Queensland and New South Wales had experienced a boom in mice numbers with populations reaching plague conditions not seen since 2011.

Impacted communities had been given a brief reprieve from the mouse plague over winter with very low mouse visibility, but now conditions are warming up, farmers are reporting higher mouse numbers and crop damage.
