Lyle Shelton will run for Australian Conservatives’  QLD Senate ticket

Luke Grant

The Australian Conservatives have confirmed Lyle Shelton will lead the party’s Queensland Senate ticket at the next election.

Opposing political correctness, social Marxism and gender ideology are Mr Shelton’s core aims, with the former Managing Director of the Australian Christian Lobby saying he’ll speak a true conservative voice.

“The Coalition has moved to the left,” he says.

“The Greens have been a toxic influence on the crossbench. There hasn’t been a principled, coherent, constructive conservative alternative on the crossbench. That is exactly what Cory Bernardi and the Australian Conservatives are aiming to do.”

Though up against some tough competition on the Senate ticket, Mr Shelton is liking his chances.

“What we know is that 30% of Australians, when they go to vote in the Senate, are not voting for a major party.  That has been a very entrenched trend for some time. We think that we can pitch ourselves to conservative voice in QLD.”
