‘Lord of the Dance’: Michael Flatley opens up on what to expect from 30th anniversary Australian tour
The man who revolutionised Irish dancing, Michael Flatley, is returning to Australian shores with his Lord of the Dance show later this year.
He opened up to Sofie Formica about his dream of wanting to compete globally with rock bands and stars.
“By the time I created the Lord of the Dance in 1996, I began to see the fruits of my work, and by the time we hit Australia, I remember getting to the airport in Australia, the very first time and there were thousands and thousands of people there and I realised my dream could be coming true,” he said.
While Flatley won’t be performing after his retirement almost 10 years ago, the show will showcase 40 dancers under his direction.
“It’s a supercharged version of our show, it’s the 30th anniversary celebration of the show,” he added.
