Littleproud ‘severely disappointed’ over Price’s defection, says ‘no word’ of a coalition split

The coalition is picking up the pieces of last weekend’s election result, with rumours of a split between the Nationals and the Liberal Party, and in a major plot twist, Senator Jacinta Price has defected to the Liberals.

Nationals Leader David Littleproud told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, “Jacinta always came to our room with an ambition that we could never satisfy.”

“There was probably going to be some juncture where she was going to move over to the Liberal Party.”

“Obviously, within my party ranks, there’s some disappointment, severe disappointment, particularly when you work closely in the Senate, as the Senators have for the last three years.”

“There’s a camaraderie that is obviously built up and expected to be maintained.”

“So we’ll work through this, but it’s not a reflection on the National Party,” Littleproud continued.
