Kia’s new EV9 due at year end to debut sustainability rollout

With Kia’s push to reach carbon neutrality by 2045 it has made a firm commitment to phase out the use of leather in all new products. The EV9 large 7-seat electric SUV due at year end will feature several different sustainable materials as the brands first sustainable vehicle. Kia has already outlined ten materials that will feature on the EV9 for the first time in the company’s history and due to be adopted by future model lines – Bioplastic will be used for the dashboard, console, pillar trim and garnishes – made from renewable biomass sources such as oils, corn extract, sawdust, and sugar cane. Bio Polyurethane has been selected for the seating material which according to Kia gives a soft breathable feel with excellent support cushioning and durability.
