Is artificial intimacy a threat?

Artificial intelligence has already penetrated some of the most intimate parts of our lives. We are already seeing these virtual friends like Siri and Alexa. These technologies are already imitating our relationships through digital lovers such as virtual therapists, sex robots, and algorithmic matchmakers .

But what will happen as these machines get smarter? What will happen when machines start pushing our buttons more than we push theirs?

Professor Rob Brooks, an evolutionary biologist from the University of New South Wales, joins John Stanley to discuss artificial intimacy and how artificial intelligence has already creeped into our lives.
