Industry expert says Aussie sunscreens still pass the test despite Choice Report

Recent testing by Choice has raised eyebrows as it was revealed that 16 out of 20 sunscreens didn’t meet their advertised SPF50 claims. 

That includes some big-name brands, even ones sold by the Cancer Council.

John Staton has spent over 50 years in product development and two decades in sunscreen testing.

Staton told 4BC Afternoons Host, Sofie Formica, “you’ll still get plenty of protection, there’s a big safety margin.”

“What you should do is really be conscientious about applying as much as you can, more than you would normally do, just to be sure,” Staton continued.
