ICU Nurse facing stage 3 breast cancer forced to enter her own hospital as a patient

Veteran Brisbane ICU nurse Jane Swancutt faced a shocking role reversal after casually mentioning a small lump to her doctor during the Christmas holidays, which led to a Stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer diagnosis.

Instead of stepping into a new role in the hospital’s cancer day care unit as a nurse, Jane endured six months of intensive chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, ultimately beating the disease to return to caring for patients at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
