Hyundai launches a new compact SUV – the Venue

Hyundai launched a new small SUV this week – the 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol front drive Venue sits below its popular Kona SUV, the five model range kicking off just under $20,000 and running up to $25,490. The Venue takes the number of SUV’s now in the South Korean car makers stable to four – it joins a burgeoning small SUV market that now tallies 27 models. Three Venue grades – the entry GO in six-speed manual and automatic, the mid-range Active, also in manual and auto and the auto only Elite I’m yet to drive it however its gained some welcome local suspension tune . Active safety includes autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, drive attention warning, high beam assist and tyre pressure monitoring , features that were once the reserve of luxury models. All variants get a reversing camera, Bluetooth streaming and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Visually much in the mould of the larger Hyundai Kona the Venue arrives in showrooms later this month.
