‘Here to stay’: Acting Commissioner shuts down rumours of juvenile taskforce disbandment

There were several reports about the disbandment of Taskforce Guardian, with many questioning what is going to replace the incredibly successful unit.

Since its inception in May 2023, the taskforce has conducted over 100 operations resulting in the charging of 2,093 juveniles with 6,167 offences and the diversion of 980 young individuals from the youth justice system.

Queensland Police Service Acting Commissioner Shane Chelepy told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, “They’re going to be permanent, they’re here to stay.”
