Olympia Kwitowski

On the show today: Gardening Hour sees Paul Plant in for a second time this weekend, giving us the lowdown on why feeling your plants is super important. Paul also answers your questions about Tahijian lime trees, wasps in a lemon tree, a Jade plant with a very unexpected addition and is a bit of beer or coffee grounds good for your pot plants? Paul provides his insights. PLUS we’re introduced to another plant of the week: the Dypsis Leptocheilos aka “Teddy Bear Palm”.

In the second hour, Olympia talks about the dire conditions for truckies on the Bruce Highway and we hear from former truck driver Ivan who tells us how things differed back in his time on the roads. We also hear from Scenic Rim alternative country artist Laura Franks following her performance at the Kalbar Sunflower Festival yesterday. Laura is an award-winning artist and she joins to talk about her upbringing, music and the hive of activity currently on offer in her region, including Eat Local month in June 2024. And in celebration of World Book Day, 91-year-old author Neill Florence joins Olympia to talk about the 6 books he has published since moving into Compton Gardens Retirement Community a decade ago, and why he decided to pick up the pen.
