On the show today: Gardening Hour sees Olympia and Paul Plant go through some important tips for planting around backyard pools including where to plant and maintenance factors to consider. Paul also talks about how soil with high nitrogen levels can affect your veggie growing and we hear from a couple of listeners having trouble with unidentified critters on their citrus fruits. PLUS Paul introduces his plant of the week: the Pilea ‘Silver Sprinkles’ – a popular indoor plant that suits a hanging basket nicely.
In the second hour, Olympia speaks about her experiences with the local road infrastructure and how the increase of trucks on our suburban streets impacts residents and other motorists. Olympia is also joined by 9News Weather presenter Luke Bradnam, who gives us the lowdown on the continuing wet weather and if he has ever heard of the weather term ‘Nor Easter’. We also get an insight into the Kalabar Sunflower Festival from owner and manager Jenny Jenner, back for another year later this month and already proving to be a sellout success. Jenny also shares her hopes to honour the memory of her late husband and “the Sunflower Man”, Russell, by raising money for the Mater Cancer Care Centre at Springfield and Boonah Hospital.
