Ford to kill off its mid sized Escape SUV by year end

In a somewhat surprise move Ford has decided to kill of its mid-size Escape
SUV. Ford Australia President and CEO Andrew Birkic made the announcement at
the launch of the brand’s first all-electric vehicle, the Ford E-Transit electric van
The six-model Escape SUV range which includes a plug-in hybrid variant will be
gone by the end of the year – the fourth-generation model released in early 2020
failing to capture a large slice of our dominant mid-size SUV segment with just
474 sales in the first quarter. Ford however recently confirmed the fully electric
Mach-E mid-size SUV will be here later this year as well an EV version of its small
Puma SUV. Ford’s strength lies in its large Everest SUV and Ranger Ute – the
highly popular duo today representing 87 percent of Ford Australia’s volume. I’m
