Ford teams complain of lack of aerodynamic parity for tomorrow’s big race
After aerodynamic changes to their Mustangs were disallowed this week Ford
Supercar teams claim they are disadvantaged going into tomorrow’s Bathurst
1000. The four Ford teams, Shell V-Power, Walkinshaw, Andretti United and
Tickford released a joint statement on Thursday about what they claim is a lack of
aerodynamic parity with their Chevrolet rivals. The joint statement stated, “The
independent data shows the Mustang will be at a continued disadvantage for the
biggest race of the year which we believe is unacceptable – and not what the
sport is built on.” The Supercars board has so far refused to allow the changes
which would bring the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro closer to technical
parity.
In the first season racing with Gen3 cars, Chevrolet Camaros make up the top five
in the championship standings, with Shell V-Power's Anton de Pasquale the best-
placed Ford driver in sixth.
