Five bill-busting energy tips for winter

Phil O'Neil

As temperatures drop, energy bills tend to rise. But with a few simple changes, Aussies can keep their homes warm and their wallets happy this winter.

Clinton is joined by Garry Harding, Co-Founder & CEO of Energyflex, for his five energy expert-backed tips:

  1. Lower the thermostat and layer up: Every degree you lower your thermostat can reduce your heating costs by 10%. Throw on a jumper or blankets and snuggle up to hot water bottles to stay cozy.
  2. 2. Seal drafts: Seal gaps in windows with weatherstripping, and block drafts with door sausages to prevent heat loss and significantly reduce energy consumption.
  3. 3. Heat smartly: Use space heaters for targeted warmth instead of heating your entire home.
  4. 4. Take shorter showers: Limit shower time and take sequential showers to save on heating costs.
  5. 5. Embrace natural light: Open curtains to let in sunlight, a natural and free heater. Small changes will make a big impact on your energy bill this winter!
