Exporters hopeful of a trade breakthrough

Exporters are hopeful the Foreign Minister’s visit to Beijing will help stabilise Australia’s relationship with China, but say they’re focusing on new markets.

Penny Wong will meet with her Chinese counterpart today to push for a trade breakthrough, after cripplng tariffs were placed on local beef, seafood, barley and wine.

Taylors Wines had been building a presence in the market for 30 years, only to see it disappear overnight.

Rural editor Sophie Clarke caught up with managing director Mitchell Taylor to hear what that did to business, and how the industry has worked to rebuild.
