‘Destabilising’: Former LNP state director slams National Party over Coalition split
More details surrounding the Coalition split have emerged, suggesting the Nationals had issued “unreasonable ultimatums”.
Former LNP state director, Geoffrey Greene, says the split is a “set-piece Queensland National move” aimed to be destabilising.
“This was in the circumstance where the Liberal Party hadn’t even had a party room meeting yet … and they [the Nationals] are saying it was on policy grounds, it can’t be on policy grounds,” he told 4BC Drive.
He also says many National MPs from Queensland don’t see themselves as members of the Liberal Party.
“This is a construct never accepted by the National Party from the time of the merger … the truth is they are the Queensland division of the Liberal Party,” he said.
