The 1950s was the beginning of great social change in Australia as we followed the rest of the world in the music we listened and danced to, the movies we watched and the clothes we wore.

But as we rapidly emerged out of the Victorian era there was one moral value that the ladies of Australia clung to and that was that the cheating husband or womanising boyfriend was still gravely frowned upon.

25-year-old Arthur Barry Griffin was killed by a single gunshot in Sydney’s CBD, and his live-in girlfriend was charged with his murder.
