Crime File: Captains Uncourageous – Criminal Cowardous at Sea

While there are no hard and fast rules for bravery at sea, it has long been tradition that should a ship be in danger of sinking or being wrecked against the shore, then the first aboard to be saved are the women and children and the crew last with the captain last of all. When all is lost, the captain is expected to go down with his ship. Or so tradition has us believe. Sadly, that is not the case in modern times. But at least now, at long last, it seems that cowardly Captains face serious criminal charges and a prison term.
