Chinese brands have a field day in June despite the slow market conditions

While June car sales were a big improvement on April and May figures they still fell short of June last year by 6.4 per cent. Interestingly, the best performers were the emerging Chinese brands which had big sales gains during the month – MG posting a 33 per cent increase with sales of 1348, it’s small MG3 hatchback the big seller with a sales gain of 74 per cent. LDV utes and vans also showed a 31 per cent lift, the LDV T60 4 x 4 ute, the first Chinese ute with a five-star crash safety rating the big seller here while Haval had a huge month, doubling it sales from a low base to 371 for the month, its popular small H2 SUV making up two thirds of its sales.  MG having gained a number of Holden dealers following that brands demise is the industry performer this year, buyers quick to realise its value for money proposition.
