Mike Jeffreys

Peter Jennings, executive director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) and a former deputy secretary for strategy in the Department of Defence, joins Michael regarding reports that China has suggested the coronavirus may have originated overseas and arrived in Wuhan via frozen food – including “Australian steak”.

Chinese authorities are attempting to rewrite history by claiming the coronavirus started overseas with one state media outlet suggesting it may have arrived via imported frozen food from countries including Australia.

Mr Jennings also discusses what options he sees for Australia to push back against Beijing’s bullying which includes a series of punishing tariffs on Australian trade goods.
