Cashless welfare trial extended
The Senate this week agreed to continue trials of the Cashless Debit Card (CDC).
Under the CDC program, 80 per cent of an individual’s welfare payments are quarantined on a card that cannot be used to purchase alcohol or gambling products.
Families and Social Services Minister Ann Ruston joined the Two Murrays to discuss the extension, while remaining committed to making the program permanent, despite being labelled “racist” by some critics.
