Call to ban of China’s wet markets

Michael McLaren

Michael is joined by Jason Wood MP, Liberal member for La Trobe & Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs, who says Prime Minister Scott Morrison has shown great leadership to call on the world health organisation (WHO) to halt the exotic meat trade – otherwise known as the wildlife wet-markets.

Mr Wood says, “unfortunately, this is not a bipartisan approach.”

“When I called for an end to these wildlife markets, Labor Shadow Immigration Spokesperson Andrew Giles and Labor MP for Macnamara, Josh Burns said I was race-baiting.”

“It’s time that Anthony Albanese stop being silent on this issue and join the PM in calling for this. We need to be united in our approach to shut down these cruel markets, the epicentre of pandemics.”
