Blackspot Manager: helping apPEASe growers.

Field pea farmers are being encouraged to make use of a tool to help determine the risk of blackspot disease in growing areas.

The Blackspot Manager alert service uses rainfall to predict when spores are released, giving farmers the opportunity to adjust fungicide management and sowing times.

The forecast is currently accessible to each growing district in Victoria and other field pea growing areas.

We caught up with Agriculture Victoria research scientist Joshua Fanning to hear about blackspot and how the service works.
