Birds to expect in your backyard this summer

Australia’s ‘Black Summer Bushfires’ had, and continue to have, a devastating impact on the lives of many, particularly for our furry and feathered friends.

With another hot Aussie summer looming, bird lovers and watchers alike say we can expect new species perching on our back porches as they move between bushlands.

BirdLife Australia are appealing to the public to take part in this years ‘Aussie Backyard Bird Count’ from the 19th-25th of October after an estimated 180 million birds were wiped out last summer.

Dr Grainne Cleary, author of ‘Your Backyard Birds’, speaks to John Stanley echoing this plea and offers the advice to keep your water feeders full, sunflower seeds handy and eyes peeled.
