Australia’s Tradition of Lifesaving

Australia’s lifesaving movement is celebrating it’s 115th birthday this week.

The volunteers who first went to the beaches in the early 1900s would go on to volunteer to fight in two World Wars.

The tradition continues with new generations of nippers.

Ian Hanson OAM is part of a family that’s had five generations patrolling Australian beaches.
