Australia is facing a tradie shortage.

The ongoing house building and renovation boom is keeping skilled tradespeople like plumbers, bricklayers, electricians and builders busier than ever.

Adding to the challenges, tradies are still playing catch-up on older jobs during lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, not to mention the difficulties in getting building materials and the continuous issues faced with COVID.

The Housing Industry Association’s chief economist, Tim Reardon chats to John about the shortage and how it could last for a few years.
