Australia urged to increase defence spending after NATO countries agree to increase
There are calls for Australia to increase its defence spending after NATO countries agreed to increase their spending to 5 per cent of their GDP.
Senior analyst of defence strategy from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Dr Euan Graham, says Australia has forgotten the “true” cost of defence.
“We also need to look beyond the pressure that’s coming from the United States to the real problem … we’re facing the largest single build-up of military power since the Second World War in China,” he said.
